Healthy living throughout life
Getting regular exercise and having a balanced diet are two main components of healthy living. They help the body to stay strong and active as well as help to reduce/prevent the risk of disease.
Smokers: To give up smoking is one of the best things that you can do for your health. It will help your skin to look more youthful as well.
Getting enough sleep and having regular health checks are also important.
Maintaining mental health:
You can help to improve the long term performance of your brain by keeping mentally active. I.E Doing daily crossword, testing your memory, and stimulating your intellect by reading or learning a new language are all beneficial.
Finding ways to reduce and manage stress is very important. Ideal ways to reduce stress: practicing yoga, tai, chi, Pilates, relaxation exercises, taking a day out of the week just for self, spending more time doing hobbies. Also doing regular exercise because it helps keep the circulation working well, to ensure that the brain receives the supply of oxygen and nutrients that it needs to stay healthy
Healthy weight=healthy life:
Did you know that the way excess weight is distributed around the body also affects your health? For example if you are what they call a apple shape – that is you carry excess weight around the waist, you have a greater risk of heart and circulatory disease. Ideally your waist measurement should be no more than 36” inches for a woman and 40”inches for a man.
Make sure that you maintain a healthy weight at all time. Being overweight as well as underweight leaves you susceptible to diseases.
As we all have been told the best way to lose weight and maintain healthy weight is by having a healthy diet and exercising.
To lose weight, exercise regularly; build up to at least three or four 30-minute sessions a week, Aim to lose about 4 ½ -9 pounds a month. When you lose weight in this manner it is healthier and will stay off longer.

Eating a balanced diet that contains plenty of fresh natural produce ensures that you are supplying your body with all the essential nutrients it needs
A healthy diet includes a wide variety of foods from the food groups. Which are Carbohydrates, fruits, vegetables, proteins, dairy products, and fats.
Day 1. Carbohydrates aka carbs: About one-third of your food intake each day should be made up of breads, cereals, rice, pasta, and potatoes. These foods are excellent sources of energy and they also provide nutrients such as calcium, iron, and B vitamins. Please note that there are good and bad carbs good carbs are those that get absorbed slowly into our systems, avoiding spikes in blood sugar levels. Examples: whole grains, vegetables, fruits, and beans. This helps to keep digestion healthy.
To meet the body's daily nutritional needs while minimizing risk for chronic disease, adults should get 45% to 65% of their calories from carbohydrates, 20% to 35% from fat, and 10% to 35% from protein.
There is only one way to get fiber -- eat plant foods. Plants such as fruits and vegetables are quality carbohydrates that are loaded with fiber. Studies show an increased risk for heart disease with low-fiber diets. There is also some evidence to suggest that fiber in the diet may also help to prevent colon cancer and promote weight control.
